Q -The Plan

Kaisional Tempest

Quietly opening the front door, Lara walked into her house.  It was almost ten at night, and she had just returned from work.
She walked into her room and started to take off her shirt, and then froze when she heard a familiar English voice whisper, “Please help me, little devotchka.”
It had been three years since Lara had heard that voice last.  She turned to face the person that it belonged to, and she saw the familiar outline of Alex, huddled on the dark bathroom floor.
Lara moved towards him, raising her fists in front of her.  Alex raised himself up off the floor a little:
“Good even’ to thee, O Lara.  Long time, no viddy.”
Lara grabbed Alex by the front of his shirt and yanked him to his feet, and she was startled by his gasp of pain:
“Hear me out, love. Hear me out.  I know well that you can tolchock my sharries up and down the block, for thou art stronger then any veck I know.  But before you begin vredding me, please slooshy a bit, and if you like not what I say unto thee, I’ll itty off; you won’t ever viddy me no more.”
Lara firmly led Alex to the kitchen and tied him to a chair.  She then examined him in the light.
Alex was a man now, of eighteen.  His hair was a little longer than it had been when she last saw him.  He was in pretty bad shape.  His clothes were muddy and torn, and there was blood on them, Alex’s blood.  His right eye was swollen shut, and his lips were bruised and swollen as well.  His hair was tousled, he had stubble on his cheeks and chin, and he looked as though he hadn’t slept in days.
“What happened to you?” Lara asked.  She gave him a drink of water, and sat and listened as Alex told her about how he had been caught and imprisoned for two years, about the Ludovico’s Technique, about how he was brainwashed to be good, about how the government took him to work for them, and he was bad again, and then how he became bored and ashamed of his love of violence.  In other words, he grew up.
“So, I’m completely reformed.  The government doesn’t think much of my newfound sense of morals, so they like beat me and tried like to brainwash me again.  I escaped before they could manage to do so.  I was on my oddy nocky, beaten very horrowshow, as thou canst viddy, hiding from the government officials, and then I was here again, to thee and thy kind.  I can’t filly a notion as to how I got here.”
Lara nodded, “What do you need my help for?”
“I need a mesto to stay, see, so I don’t get loveted until I can viddy out what to do.”
Lara was about to ask more, but she saw how exhausted Alex was.  His one good eye was bloodshot, and his breathing was becoming labored.  Instead, Lara left a note to her parents, untied Alex, put him in her car, and drove to Tony’s apartment.
Tony was nineteen, and she lived alone.  When she saw Alex, she raised her eyebrows and exclaimed, “Holy crap! You’ve killed him!”
“Do you have a place we could keep him?” Lara asked.
“The garage--I mean, the couch,” Tony led them both into the house, and then helped Lara lower Alex onto the couch.  Alex muttered thanks, and fell fast asleep.  Lara and Tony walked up to Tony’s room.
“So, what’s the story?” Tony asked, sitting down on the bed.
Lara explained everything Alex had told her.
“I don’t know whether to believe him or not, so I brought him here so that I could test him—“
“And I could heal him,” Tony finished.  “That is what you want, isn’t it?”
Lara nodded, and without another word, Tony walked downstairs.  She became a unicorn, and gently touched Alex’s wounds with her horn.  They didn’t heal completely, but the damage became less severe.  Alex sighed relaxingly, but didn’t wake up.
Before she healed a final cut on his wrist, Tony got a glass and held it up to the wound, so that the drops of blood fell into it.  She healed his wrist, and then walked back upstairs to Lara, carrying the blood.  Alex had remained asleep throughout the whole process.
Tony handed the glass to Lara, and she drank Alex’s blood.  “Well?”
“He’s telling the truth,” Lara answered happily.  “I tasted no evil in his blood.”
Tony nodded, “As for Alex, rest and Neosporin will make a new man out of him.”

The next morning, Tony and Lara were eating breakfast.  Alex woke up and glanced over at Tony.  He sat up quickly, and exclaimed, “Thou art the devotchka that sloochated into a . . . that is to say, I viddied an Old World, sharp unicorn instead of thee.”  Alex giggled nervously, “And I had no drencrom in me, neither.”
Tony looked at Lara, “I thought you said he was sane, now.”
“He is.”
“If that’s sane, he must have really been something back when he was crazy.”  To Alex, she said:
“I’m a unicorn, Lara’s a vampire.  Now can we move on?  I’ve been thinking about what to do with you, and I think the best idea is to go to your world, go to the main government building, and fake your death.”
Alex walked up to the table and started eating toast.
“That could take time, love,” he said, looking at Lara.
“Well, duh,” Tony answered.

Three weeks later, they had crossed the canal and entered Alex’s time in the world.  Alex had healed completely by now, and they had spent a lot of time surveying the building where the records were kept, and planning, and gathering supplies.
Now was the time to act.  Tony, dressed in Alex’s clothes, met Alex and Lara along one side of the building, next to a water tank.  Alex and Lara were wearing wetsuits, and had breathing equipment with them.
Tony ran through the plan one last time: “So, I’m the diversion.  I make myself look like Alex, run around the other way, and go nuts, distracting the people in the building.  You two get in the water tank, and when I get in the building, I’ll activate the piping system, and you’ll get in that way.  Once you’re in, Alex dresses up as a guard, and I’ll call him down to change his file.  Then, Lara will “kill” Alex, and the three of us run out of there like bats out of hell.  Is that clear?”
“Absolutely,” Lara replied.
“As an unmuddied lake,” Alex said.  “Clear as an azure sky of the deepest summer.  You can rely on me, sister.”
The three of them looked at each other.
“Let’s do this thing,” Tony said, and her features changed until she looked exactly like Alex.
“Right right right,” she said in Alex’s voice, as she ran towards the front of the building.
