Marco and Lexa found themselves standing in the middle of a deserted street. It was night, and a cold rain poured down from the sky. Lexa squinted. She could just barely make out the outlines of a large building in front of her, surrounded by a high, chain-link fence. A smaller, white building stood behind that one.
Is this part of the Labyrinth? Lexa asked.
I dont think so, Marco replied. I think maybe that we went through a portal or something. Anyway, lets find out what that building is so that we can get out of this rain

The next day, before sundown, a crowd had gathered around a wooden platform that had been quickly constructed the night before. A tall wooden stake had been erected at the top of the platform, and surrounded with bundles of straw. Ashandra was in the crowd, and did not cheer with them as Cristof was led out into the street, surrounded by guards and with his hands bound behind his back. It was the next evening. Ashandra and Kaona were in the drawing room with Quinton. Ashandra was reading a book to avoid talking to Quinton. Although she stared fixedly at the pages of the book; periodically turning a leaf, her thoughts were far from what she read. Her fantasies were devoted entirely to Cristof; his foreign good looks, his charismatic performances, the way his warm brown eyes softened with his voice whenever he spoke to her. A happy smile crept to Ashandras lips as she meditated over those subjects.
